It really is a great honor to be selected as the President of the Rotary Club of Marysville for the 2022-23 year. Other than to support my theme, “Give Peace A Chance” I am wearing hippie garb each week to remind myself of my life’s trajectory. When I dropped out of high school to move from Philadelphia to the Haight Ashbury, little did I know how transformed my life would be. After giving birth to my second child at home, I became a de facto midwife which led to my interest in healthcare and eventually becoming a Physician Assistant. Although I started Harmony Health 25 years ago, it wasn’t until 2015 that we were awarded status as a Federally Qualified Health Center.
Someone invited me to speak at the Rotary Club of Marysville about 12 years ago and I was struck by the mission, “Service Above Self.” It was so similar to my health center mission that I was excited to join. The international work really spoke to my soul. Now both the local as well as international work all feel vital. Building relationships with people whose politics differ from mine has become integral as well. I believe that through our club, district, and all of Rotary
