Haiden Holmes, a sophomore at CORE Charter School is the winner of the 2025 speech contest held by the Rotary Club of Marysville on Feb 6.

The theme of the speech contest this year was “The Magic of Service,” to align with the 2024-25 theme for Rotary International, “The Magic of Rotary.”

Three contestants participated in the Marysville contest this year, each with truly inspirational messages about the value of service to others.

In addition to a cash prize, Holmes now continues on to the semi-final speech contest, competing against winners from other area Rotary clubs’ contests. The winner of the semi-final speech contest will compete at the district level, against winners from throughout the greater Sacramento region. Winners at each level receive cash prizes, and the winner of the district level competition will receive a trip to Disneyland, as well.

The semi-final speech contest will be held February 22 at the Sutter Theater Center for the Arts in Yuba City.
